This is my new thigh piece, of James and the Giant Peach.  There is multiple reasons behind it but the most prominent is for my Grandma Lynda.  I had an eventful childhood.  My father was a drug addict and my mom tried her best to raise us alone.  My Grandma would read to me every single night before bed. She read me countless books but the one I remember the most is Road Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach.  It was my first favorite book. She took me to see Tim Burton’s adaption of the movie after we finished.  I loved the movie as well.  Without my Grandma reading to me, I feel my life would’ve taken a very different turn.  She inspired my love for reading and in turn my love for school (I’m now an English major).  My Grandma means the world to me.  I ha her choose her 3 favorite characters from the book.
It was done in Denver, CO.  At Kaze Gallery tattoo by Sandi Calistro who has been tattooing for 11 years.  She’s insanely talented and made the whole thing amazing.  She was so nice and down to earth and adorable to boot.  She was so friendly, too.  I had so much fun and she finished this session in 3.5 hours.  Super quick and super amazing work!  I couldn’t be happier, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

This is my first literary tattoo! I always loved how pissed Alice looked here. I got this yesterday but I’m so excited about it I don’t feel like waiting for it to heal to take pics. Hopefully, as a librarian, I’ll find many more awesomely inspiring literary things.

This photo was taken right after I got my tattoo done in Savannah, GA at Anonymous Tattoo. It’s a line from Act II, Scene II of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. I am a literature buff, English major, and aspiring writer, and Hamlet is my favorite of Shakespeare’s plays that I have read so far. This line, to me, represents both my love for the play, for literature, and for writing itself. It is my first tattoo and I absolutely love it!

So I was sitting at home today waiting to see the Harry Potter premier and I decided I couldn’t go without a tribute tattoo. So here it is, the gateway into the magical world is right next to my mind.
“Ofcourse it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real.”

My Hogwarts school motto tattoo.
Drawn/designed by me.  Done by Dave at Inflicting ink in Pourtsmouth, RI.
Harry Potter was the basis of my childhood.   I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them.
The text reads: Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus.  Translated: Never tickle a sleeping Dragon.
To me, the phrase is more than just a memory of HP. Its a great life moral.  Live adventurously but don’t do anything stupid ;)

I got this tattoo about 6 months ago at Tattooed Planet in Tempe, AZ, as a Tribute To Harry Potter, my childhood, and my favorite character Bellatrix Lestrange. This is her Azkaban tattoo that can be found on the left side of her neck. The first two symbols represent her runes, ‘93’ is the year she was admitted into Azkaban. Followed by the Deathly Hallows Symbol, as my own addition.
I remember the day the very first Harry Potter Book was released to the United States, my mom took me to go pick it up from the bookstore where I had it on reserve. My books were my only friends growing up. Soon, Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of the characters became my world. I waited anxiously for each book to be released and soon, for the movies.
I’m proud to say i’ve attended every midnight book and movie release since then. My love and adoration for this series goes beyond what words can explain. It gave me light in my darkest years. From loneliness as a child, bullying, boyfriends, heart breaks, betrayal, death and drug addiction in my adult years. Harry Potter has always been there for me. The bond I share with those around me who share my love and dedication to this series is indescribable.
After all this time, Always.

Harry Potter has pretty much been the basis of my childhood. It’s stories and morals have made me who I am today. So when I decided to get a tattoo I knew it would be something Harry Potter relatedI drew this myself and picked the quote not only because it’s one of my favorites, but also because it has had a lot of meaning to myself and my friends these past years. And it most certainly won’t be my last Harry Potter tattoo.
